How to get to Freemasons' Hall:-

From the South, along the A19. Take the slip road for the A194, turning right at the "Lindisfarne" roundabout, follow the  A194 looking for signs marked "South Shields Town Centre/Town Hall." You should now arrive facing the very impressive Town Hall and in the lefthand lane, turn left and move into the righthand lane before the next traffic lights, drive past the Town Hall on 'Beach Road' and at the next roundabout turn left into 'Anderson Street' drive to the bottom of this street and straight ahead at the new traffic lights, passing Morrisons on your left  and arriving at their car park *

From the North, via the Tyne Tunnel. Take the first left as you exit the tunnel, follow signs for South Shields turn left at the first roundabout onto the A194. Following the signs marked "South Shields Town Centre/Town Hall." (Follow the above directions now)

From the West, travelling along the Felling Bye-Pass from Gateshead, follow the A185 towards Sunderland. Take the slip road for the A194, turning left at the "Whitemare pool" roundabout. Follow the A194 and look out for signs marked "South Shields Town Centre/Town Hall."  (Follow the above directions now)

* As a word of caution - when you enter Morrisons Car Park they have RNPR (Registration Number Plate Recognition) cameras which identifies the time you enter and exit and you have 3 hours free car parking and no return for 2 hours - so you may want to think about how long you intend to stay as there are adequate parking both free and payable around the hall.

From the East, land your boat on the beach near the fairground, walk straight along Ocean Road, passing numerous restaurants. When you reach a statue of a soldier with a donkey, turn right and the hall is at the top of the hill, on your left.

Note - If travelling by car be mindful of where you park, lest you pay a price you didn't bargain for, whilst there are 'free' parking around the adjacent streets, car park charges are payable in some parks and the Morrisons car park only allows three hours free parking (and no return within 2 hours) - we hope this doesn't put you off both visiting our Lodge and our beautiful town.
